This post is for meeee. I took up skiing about 5 years ago so I can justify getting a Perfect Moment salopette and coordinating jacket. I usually take a half-day lesson to show off my outfit then it's time for apres!
What a fun post, you have such a great voice! I admittedly have only skied 3 times in my life (want to do it again but so many hurdles haha). I managed to cobble a snow wardrobe that I can easily repeat since I’m up there so rarely, but you can bet I’d sure as heck be upping my fit if I was at the mountain more!
Aw thank you! I’m a big proponent of borrowing gear too if you don’t go often (honestly love lending my stuff out because it feels like I’m getting more out of it?! Haha)
Ooh haven’t tried the SKIMS stuff or seen it in the wild yet but it does look cute!!
This is so fun! I’m absolutely an outdoor gear lab reader, whose mom skied very elegantly in a Bogner onesie. She raised an ice coast kid who eventually became a backcountry skier. I either apply Vaseline or bag balm all over my face to avoid getting a super chapped face. The post-skiing skincare routine is more work if you don’t protect your face. This cream gets it done: https://supersalve.com/collections/anti-aging/products/power-repair-face-cream
LOL at “this advice is for the girls who are panic perusing Lisa Yang on SSENSE for fear of Canadian tariffs, not for the ones reading OutdoorGearLab.com reviews.” The first time I went to Jackson hole I asked my friend, pointing at a group of girls at Apres in Bogner onesies “how do they keep their hair looking so good?” To which my friend replied “they didn’t actually ski”
One of your funnier posts. I’m more of the “outdoor gear lab” girlie but I’ve always been so tempted by the Cordova suits and Fusalp knits!
Thank you!! Hahh I went to an apres thing at the top of the gondola in Aspen with dozens of girls who clearly weren’t skiing — fur coats, moon boots everywhere, it was such a scene but also so fun. Exactly why I wanted to write this — I think there’s a comfortable, stylish, functional middle ground where you can be a real skier but still look and feel good!!
I couldn’t believe I was reading my own ski life story in your post so I read it twice 😂 …we can still feel proud of it 😉 ski lifestyle warms my soul and keeps me happy until next time…🩶🎿🚠⛷️
Love that you have the same story! I think it’s fun that the sport is getting more inclusive. I’m there for the overall experience, not to get first tracks 😊
I do not ski or do winter sports at all, but I did come across a pair of Patagonia ski pants while thrifting in LA back in September and I have worn them out and about as regular pants this winter as a fashion choice and they worked!
I’m definitely the magpie when I go to Winter Park (a very not chic locals mountain in CO) haha so I totally know the vibe. Still a good excuse to get a fun ski suit or jacket 👀 Have a great time!
Ha yeah they’re so pervasive that it’s almost suspicious 👀 I only have a fleece personally which is great, but friends who wear their ski sets are big fans!
love this piece so much – thank you for the feature Teresa!!! couldn't be more obsessed with: "But as long as my outfit gets the job done functionally, I give zero shits if a Reddit bro in his (peacocky in its own way, I might add) Arcteryx / Melanzana getup is passing judgment on my sportwear choices." louder for the people in the back!!!
wait, i have like the exact same skiing story as you! my parents immigrated, did not ski, but would take us every winter and spring break to learn so we could hopefully one day be able to relate and do rich white people activities! it's definitely the only sport i can do somewhat decently, so those lessons paid off!
lol! I really want to know what was going through their heads. if only they put me in golf and tennis instead of 14 years of piano lessons. I'd be such an ATHLETE
haha they did put me in tennis lessons (and my dad took me to the driving range but was embarrassed by how much i suck) - AND I'M STILL NOT AN ATHLETE! i suck at sports! but i can ski!

PS - little Teresa absolutely ate in her cool ski suit and yellow sunnies on the slope. So adorable!
Taking notes for the next time I have to buy ski gear. Also, I agree that feeling chic makes you ski better!!

Coincidentally learned this week about SKIMS collab with Northface, have you seen it? https://skims.com/collections/the-north-face-x-skims

If you’re ever looking for a pair of bibs that you can unzip from the back these are amazing and come in different inseam lengths (not sexy but they have lots of pockets for snacks!): https://flylowgear.com/products/foxy-bib?variant=48577216118977
That’s amazing, I love the old ski looks — bet she looked so chic!! Love those skincare tips… my face has been getting destroyed this season.

Love when a good secondhand find works out like that!
Literally off to Big Bear in 2 weeks which as a far cry from any version of a chic ski resort but love all these recs!!

I haven’t updated my gear since high school and have been on the hunt - loved all of this!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you found something fun to add to the kit this season 🎿
Wow this was so FUN!!! I’ve been skeptical of Halfdays instagram ads, but I appreciate seeing multiple references here. Will check them out in honest!

One of my favorite posts to-date! Somehow I always find a need for new ski wear every year.
yess I meannn I feel like it makes the whole sport / experience more fun 😌
chic! love this deep dive and the mini Teresa pic is too cute!

omg this picture of you skiing as a tot made my day. I say, bring that lewk back. I want to start skiing just to get that black houndstooth lewk!
not better than the camo ski gear pic which also would have been great imagery for this post……

haven't ever skied in my life but considering it thanks to, "Veuve-soaked fondue lunch"
My friend Rosa bought a single day lift ticket just so she could come to lunch 😂 it's honestly some of the best mountain food I've had!!
I NEED it!!
